1. All non-essential professionals who had been able to travel to their place of work must now stay at home.

2. The Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez has told the BBC that the virus' upward curve seems to be flattening out. Daily infection rates are dropping.

通过这句话的学习,你可以学到三个有用的表达方式:a. upward curve; b. flatten out; c. rates are dropping。

3. Japan has reported a surgeon confirmed coronavirus cases amid fears that a lack of widespread testing has allowed the virus to spread undetected.

A surgeon was confirmed that he has been affected by the coronavirus?

Japan has reported cases amid fears

4. The massive decline in global travel, especially though not only by air, has fed through to the price of oil, which accounts for more than 90% of transport fuel.

本句中feed through的意思是最终得以提供给,英文解释是to reach sb/sth after going through a process or system,用法是feed through to sb/sth. It will take time for the higher rates to feed through to investors.

Step 3:

The number of coronavirus cases in Spain has surpassed that recorded in China since the start of the pandemic. New national measures have come into force. Guy Hedgecoe reports.

Here on the streets of Madrid, it's even quieter than it has been for the last two weeks. A national lockdown which has been in place for that time has today been tightened further. All non-essential professionals who had been able to travel to their place of work must now stay at home. The Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez has told the BBC that the virus' upward curve seems to be flattening out. Daily infection rates are dropping. However, with another 812 people dying of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Spain's health care services are struggling.

Japan has reported a surgeon confirmed coronavirus cases amid fears that a lack of widespread testing has allowed the virus to spread undetected. Tokyo has recorded its highest number of new daily cases with 68. Across Japan, there were 173 new cases. Japan has not instituted many of the virus protection measures seen in other countries, and many in Tokyo appear to be ignoring the government's calls to stay at home. Media outlets say the authorities will expand an existing ban on the entry of foreign citizens.

Oil prices have fallen to their lowest level in almost 20 years as demand for crude oil has dropped. Here is Andrew Walker.

The price of crude oil is now well below half the level it was as recently as January. The massive decline in global travel, especially though not only by air, has fed through to the price of oil, which accounts for more than 90% of transport fuel. Traders are constantly having to adjust their expectations about how long the situation will last. President Trump's decision to extend US social distancing guidelines by 30 days suggested the disruption will not end soon.

At the same time, there's a large amount of excess supply after Saudi Arabia decided to increase exports. That move followed a failed attempt to negotiate production restraints with Russia and other leading oil suppliers.

One of Europe's largest airlines Easy Jet says it's grounding its entire fleet because of the coronavirus pandemic. The outbreak of COVID-19 and the ensuing travel restrictions have caused a huge drop in the demand for flights. Phil Liggett reports.

Easy Jet has a fleet of more than 330 aircraft, and under normal circumstances operates more than a thousand routes around Europe. The company had already cancelled most of its scheduled services, but over the past few days, it's been operating so-called rescue flights to ensure passengers stranded abroad could return home. These have now ceased as well. Although Easy Jet says it will continue to work with governments and operate additional services when needed. The airline has not said when flights will resume.
