Summary and abstract

The terms summary and abstract are often used interchangeably resulting in some confusion. This problem arises because there are two distinct types of abstratcs, descriptive and informative. The informative abstract is sometimes called summary; the descriptive is not. The descriptive abstract is usually only two or three sentences in length, hence it is not a summary or very informative.

术语提要和摘要经常互换使用，导致一些混淆。出现这个问题是因为有两种不同类型的摘要：描述性和信息性的。信息摘要有时被称为提要；描述性的不是。描述性摘要通常只有两三句话长，因此它不是提要或信息非常丰富。
